The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth installment in Bethesda's action / role-playing series "Elder Scrolls", and a follow up to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from 2006 (albeit not a direct sequel). The game is set 200 years after the events of Oblivion, in the eponymous land of Skyrim. The province has erupted into civil war after the assassination of its king. Concurrently, the god Alduin, who takes the form of a massive dragon, has arisen to destroy the world. The player character is the last living Dovahkiin (Dragonborn), and must fend off Alduin and save Skyrim from destruction. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios under the direction of Todd Howard, Skyrim will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
