| We can all agree on the fact that Valve hit the Jackpot with its Steam service. Hell, even I use it sometimes, and I am certainly not a big fan of online distribution. I’d rather buy my games in their respective boxes, be it orange, pink, or be it the color of a big bad dump. But business is business, and it is going oh so well right now… And since they have this area covered (I’m referring to game distribution), Valve decided to look further away. In an interview with Tom's Games, Valve’s badass Doug Lombardi confessed that they are looking to provide even more entertainment. Not just games, but music, movies, and anything that can be labeled as digital entertainment. According to his statement, before the end of the year, we’ll be seeing new stuff on Steam.
I’ve always been a fan of opening up interdimensional portals and bravely sneak into little girls’ bedrooms. Portal was the first and only game so far that allowed me to do that in the virtual world, too. So just imagine my surprise and joy, when Valve’s Kim Swift mumbled something about a sequel in a recent episode of X-Play – more puzzles, more fun, more over-the-top physical bullshit. If you watch the file mentioned above, you will notice this clumsy employee of theirs stating somewhere that Lombardi, the Valve Guru (and perhaps leader of a sexual-themed cult involving lots of beautiful women and no men at all), has already announced Portal 2, in a previous statement. Well… I guess he missed a couple of daily public relations spreadsheets. Anyway, Portal 2 is official, mind-numbing poison 2 is official. Time to stalk little girls some more. - Red Faction III was confirmed during THQ's latest investors call. Exactly one year after CEO Brian Farrell practically said the same thing. Only this time, we know with relative certainty that it's developed for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. By Volition, duh. - Steam reaches 15 million accounts. For some odd reason, players keep making new accounts after getting their asses banned, or forget their password. Or username. - Activision confirmed various sequels for their top franchises, from Call of Duty, to Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Spider-Man, Bond and other kiddie games. Or we could've just said "Activision confirms Call of Duty 5", since we don't give a crap about any of the others. - The Club demo is out of for the PC. So is the full game, but only on the PS3 and Xbox 360 momentarily. Good luck clearing 2 GB for the demo! - "We at EA blew it" (with Bullfrog, Origin and Westwood). No, you didn't blow it. You fucked it up. You fucked it up!- Okami Wii is completely playable by now, but Capcom is still not giving a firm release date. March? Maybe. By the way, this game should've been made for the Wii from head start. - StarCraft II and WoW: Wrath of the Lich King also playable, if you can hold your breath until the end of June, and find your way inside Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational event from Paris. |
