What do we know about 2K Boston? Ah, well, nothing “much”. They are just the bunch of insane (and let me add, extremely talented) people who brought us Bioshock. You know, the game that rocked your socks (be it clean, smelling like Mr. Hanky, the Christmas Poo, or still stuck on your sealing) in 2007. Hell, that was a great game. I actually finished it, too.

So, what does one expect from such a company? Nothing bad, I guess. Maybe even something good (and that's the sad part). New job listings were recently posted for their oh-so-demanding team, listings that may speak – or may not speak – for themselves. Do you think you meet the qualifications? Let's take a look, see:
This position requires a high degree of creativity. You will be required to work with the single-player team to form a "vision" of the multiplayer experience and use that vision to inform your design decisions. From there, you will help build a multiplayer design team and be responsible to guide your team through the entire production cycle.
Prior experience designing first-person shooter games is an absolute must. Understanding of online persistence is preferred but not required. MMO design or production experience also preferred.
Extending and enhancing Unreal Engine 3 with proprietary networking tech to address gameplay, performance, platform, production, tools, and QA needs.
Interfacing with Microsoft, Sony, and other providers for matching-making and other services.

Multiplayer – seems that we have a new “word of the century” win here. Every game tends to involve a decent bit of one on one, three to three or one on over nine thousand lolis action – just for self preservation. OK, I will bite this. And I will swallow it too, if it turns out to be as good as any normal human being would expect.
I can almost hear Stephane Grappelli's jazzy violin already...

It all started as a (well founded) rumor. It ended with an official announcement. So, yeah, basically we’ll get more Bioshockin’ services in the fall of 2009, according to the girls at Take Two. Just as promised, actually, because they stated before their hungry desire to release one Bioshock title once every two years…

What we know so far is that the game will, indeed, be manufactured with great care and no trembling hands by the newly formed 2K Marin Studio, where a bunch of Bioshock developers gathered not to be pissed off by the lesser beings inside Take Two that like to share useless opinions with the rest of the world. Even though it was first rumored that brainmaster Ken Levine will not work on this project, Take Two confirmed that, well, he will, either it is his choice or not.

While Bioshock was a great game, maybe more popular than great, it still reeked of casual putrefaction. Hopefully, more little sisters, Japanese ones, this time, will fix the obvious flaw of respawning like a retard, that made the game look much too easy. And silly.

Here's a little something to wash away that sorrow of seeing the Wii version of Civilization: Revolution cancelled put on hold last month: 2K Games announced a release date for the latest chapter in Sid Meier's 17-years old series, on its remaining platforms. So, without further ado (but with plenty of screenshots below), the PS3, Xbox 360 and DS versions of Civilization: Revolution are to be released on June 6. Lovely, and now for the accompanying PR'ish game synopsis.
"Built from the ground up solely for console and handheld gamers, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution features fast-paced, pick-up-and-play action involving strategic global domination and history's most intrepid leaders, as well as a highly competitive multi-player experience. Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution brings the renowned Civilization franchise to consoles for the first time, delivering the vast re-playability and unmatched addictive gameplay that has become synonymous with the works of Sid Meier. New graphical touches and a streamlined interface will transport the Civilization franchise to a level that fans have never seen before."

Lagging a couple of years behind the pack, Take-Two has finally licensed Unreal Engine 3 for its 2K Games label. Today's announcement issued by the engine's makers from Epic Games only mentions some "unannounced games in development", so we can only guess what exactly they're working on... Neither party had anything intelligent to say on this occasion (other than the reciprocal pat on the back, as usual), so I won't drag this on any longer than needed, either.
Taking BioShock's graphical beauty and slaughtering it, to fit on a mobile device, might not sound too appealing. But the thought of carrying little sisters in your pocket sure does! And we'll soon be able to do just that, thanks to today's announcement of a mobile version of BioShock.

The miniature Rapture will be brought to pixelated life by a certain online and mobile games company called Indiagames (guess where they're located!), and served through their international publishing arm, IG Fun, who secured the global rights to develop and publish BioShock for the mobile platform from 2K Games.
"Bio-shock on mobile will herald the next level in mobile game development and gameplay experience. The PC and console version of the game has already been a huge hit and we are confident of replicating the success on the mobile platform too", confidently proclaimed Indiagames boss, Vishal Gondal.

... But will it get you chicks little sisters?
