Yet Another Lord of the Rings Game In The Making At EA

Much like Bethesda's three-years-late Pirates of the Caribbean game, Electronic Arts announced that they are working on yet another Lord of the Rings title - thus continuing to squeeze every last drop from their LotR license, even three years after Peter Jackson's final "Return of the King" movie came out. The news came straight from Steve Gray, executive producer of the Lord of the Rings franchise at EA Los Angeles, during his presentation at this week's Hollywood and Games Summit.

As reported on Next-Gen.biz, Gray previewed footage from an upcoming Lord of the Rings-style game, with design elements resembling The Fellowship of the Ring.

"Talking on the difficulties of developing for high-definition, next-generation systems, Gray said that the assets were sometimes interchangeable, as they were rendered at similar resolutions, with similar detail.

While he stumbled on his team's ability to live up to Tolkien's compelling storytelling, Gray suggested that their new project was "trying to do so in a less linear way."

Gray hinted that the new project was a "story construction kit"."

Story construction kit, eh? That I gotta see. Also, let's not forget that Steve Gray is also acting as executive producer on a next-gen RPG codenamed Project Gray Company, which at this point I incline to believe is the exact same game, given its Tolkienish looking artworks. Time will tell.
