| World of Warcraft Paid Character Transfer Service Goes Live
When we reported last week that World of Warcraft players would "soon" be able to pay $25 for transferring their characters from one realm to another, I for one had no idea that Blizzard was actually going to activate this feature so soon. But they did: just a few days later, the World of Warcraft website announced that the Paid Character Transfer service had already gone live!
The initial launch of the service only allowed players to transfer their characters off of a very limited set of realms (Altar of Storms, Argent Dawn, Demon Soul, Illidan and Warsong), but by now several others were added to the list. The complete list of eligible source realms for paid character transfers, as well as the list of realms that are still not eligible as destination realms, are both available for inspection on this Realm Eligibility page from the WoW website.
Of course, there's plenty of limitations when transferring a character from one server onto another, and you can read all about them - as well as other terms and conditions (such as the $25 fee per transferred character) - on the Paid Character Transfer FAQ page.
Unfortunately, the service is still not available in Europe as of yet. I've been waiting for this same announcement to appear on the European World of Warcraft website all day long, but apparently they have more pressing issues to take care of right now (no wonder, after yesterday's prolonged black-out!). This may not be the case in the US, but trust me: you don't want to be level 60 on a Russky-infested server and not speak their language! That is, unless you think you can take on Nefarian solo...
