World of Warcraft Character Transfers Soon For $25

Hell yeah! At last, it's the thing that everyone has been desperately begging for, ever since their uber-epixx-lv.60 characters were left stranded on some God forsaken, Russky infested server. Paid character transfers between different realms (and even between accounts!) will soon become a reality, as confirmed by Blizzard on the World of Warcraft forums - and, by now, on several other websites.

One such website is GameSpot, who managed to get some straight answers on the topic from lead producer Shane Dabiri. Basically, this is what you need to keep in mind if you plan on realm-switching once the service becomes available:

"A character can only be transferred to a new realm once every six months, and once completed, a character transfer cannot be reversed. Also, there will be both character and realm restrictions. For example, you will need to be at least level 10 to transfer realms, and you’ll only be able to carry over a certain amount of gold. The cap is set at 300 gold for characters between levels 10 and 30, 1,000 gold for characters between levels 31 and 50, and characters at level 51 and above can bring a maximum of 5,000 gold.

As for realm restrictions, players can only transfer characters between realms of the same type, or from a PvP to a normal (PvE) realm. To prevent players from leveling up without the challenges of a PvP environment and then unfairly being able to make leveling up more difficult for other players on a PvP realm, transfers from a normal to a PvP realm are not permitted. Also, if a player decides to transfer from one PvP realm to another PvP realm, he/she can only do so if there is no faction violation (that is, players cannot already have a character of the opposing faction on the destination realm)."

The fee will be $25 per transferred character, and some additional details were also provided by a "blue" (Ordinn) on the WoW forums:

Q: How long will we have to wait (if at all) for the transfer to occur?

A: Five days or less.

Q: Will we be able to transfer a character (or multiple) between accounts?

A: Yes.

Q: Will the characters bank transfer, or will we have to empty/lose it?

A: Yes. Bank and inventory items will get transferred.

Q: Does PvP rank carry over?

A: Yes, it will be integrated into the new realm. We (the comm. team) will try to get more info on this for you in the next few days.

Q: How do you keep your beard so glossy?

A: Egg yolks.
