As expected, the return of our beloved Heroes franchise late last month has brought with it mixed reactions. But while some players would go to either extreme in flaming or praising Nival for their work on Heroes of Might and Magic V, most tend to agree that the Russians have done a pretty good job in keeping the spirit of New World Computing's classic favorites. And for those who still feel that something's wrong with the game, Nival and Ubisoft have issued the first patch today.
Version 1.1 fixes certain interface issues, balances gameplay in both single-player and multiplayer modes, fixes video card errors / conflicts, and addresses other minor issues in the game. Additionally, the patch adds new features to the game: an auto-patcher, and an "easy" mode that will help newbies to enter the game smoothly. The full patch notes are available here, listing a total of 72 (!) bugfixes, while warning that some of them will only take effect upon restarting the map, if loading from an older version save. Nival also admits on a couple of persisting "issues", such as the game crashing after a continuous gameplay (near 2 hours or more) and while using the Alt+Tab function for several times. Oh well, there's always a next patch to look forward to...
The Heroes of Might and Magic V v1.1 patch comes in three variants: one for the US version, one for the European version (these first two are mirrored locally), as well as one for the European Collector's Edition (from Nival's website).
