| Half-Life 2, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Coming To Xbox 360?
Yet another couple of rumour mills were put into motion a few days ago, reporting that two very distinct PC Action games - Half-Life 2 and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - were likely coming to the Xbox 360. This might not be so shocking in the case of Quake Wars, but when looking at Half-Life 2, there's a few things to consider which don't really add up. First of all, why would Valve want to commit the same mistake twice, after a rather disappointing Xbox version of Half-Life 2 released in 2005? The game has already been made backwards-compatible with the Xbox 360, so unless Valve is planning to add Xbox Live multiplayer support and the episodic content that's just about to debut on the PC, there's not much point in doing the 360 port.
Retail giants GameStop and EBGames are already listing the Xbox 360 version of Half-Life 2, carrying a February 2007 release date. No official confirmation was given by either Valve or Electronic Arts, though Valve did announce that they were making games on the Xbox 360 last month - and at that time a Half-Life 2 port seemed like the easy way out. On the other hand, E3 2006 also brought speculations regarding a PlayStation 3 version of Half-Life 2, so until either company sets the record straight, things remain pretty blurry.
Not that the other rumour at hand would be any more precise. In the latest issue of OXM (summary here), there's also a hint about Enemy Territory: Quake Wars coming to the Xbox 360 - no details, no quotes from the developers. So take it with a grain of salt.
