| Assassin's Creed - Ubisoft's New Action-Adventure Franchise
Ubisoft's goal "to introduce three new brands into the marketplace every two years" is well underway, now that Assassin's Creed has been brought to light by the French publisher. This new video game franchise is once again being developed by their almighty Montreal studio, which makes perfect sense once you see the game's first trailer and make the connection with a couple of other franchises crafted by the same studio - namely Prince of Persia and Splinter Cell. Like these, Assassin's Creed will also be a stealthy Action/Adventure title, and promises to deliver superb graphics, whith an immersive and sophisticated storyline held together by a compelling new gameplay.
"The first game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history."
Ubisoft's press release only mentions the PlayStation 3 as a support for this game, with a release date currently set for 2007. A first artwork is now available in our gallery, along with some stills from the trailer mentioned above. Expect more Assassin's Creed goodies once E3 kicks in!
