| Sega Rally Revo Announced For PC, PS3 And Xbox 360
SEGA's latest stop on their "road to E3 2006" is the announcement of a new title in their popular rally series - Sega Rally Revo - for next-gen platforms PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but ironically not for the Revolution (or should I say Wii). The development is being carried out by the young SEGA Driving Studio from Birmingham - whose outright goal is to bring back to life some old franchises from SEGA's days of glory in the '80s and early '90s, as well as creating new IPs. The release of Sega Rally Revo is set for 2007.
Aside from the next-gen graphics and physics system, which are self-implied, SEGA is also very fond of a certain technology that will allow the tracks to be dynamically deformed. Now, don't go thinking that crashing into a tree will make it fall over a cliff, pushing some rocks down and making a big hole in the track. Nope, nothing that dramatic I'm affraid. The effects will be much more subtle, such as track erosion upon repeated contact with vehicle tires and changing weather effects.
Sega Rally Revo will of course be playable online, although the official press release only mentions multiplayer split-screen modes. In any case, we're waiting now for the first in-game screenshots, which are hopefully going to surface around E3.
