Electronic Arts Reveals Project Gray Company Next-gen RPG

Role-playing isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Electronic Arts. However, the American giant revealed a next-gen RPG project that's been working on for more than a year, at its EA Redwood Shores internal development studio, under the working title Project Gray Company. Megalomaniac or not, the game's Executive Producer is Steve Gray - who, together with Chris Tremmel (Creative Director), have recently worked on three titles from The Lord of the Rings franchise - The Two Towers, The Return of the King, and The Third Age. No specific platform was given for Project Gray Company, though a quick inspection of the official website's source code leads us to believe that we're dealing with a game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

As for its gameplay, the following is all that we know about it at this moment:

"The action takes place in a massive open world where you can go anywhere you want, and the characters in this world are powered by an incredible simulation AI based on the same technology used by the makers of The Sims 2. The story of the game is built around a series of Story Quests. You can choose to follow specific Story Quests, embark on a range of other types of quests, or set off on your own adventures in the massive open world environment."

I would've expected this first Designer Diary trailer to be a bit more explanatory, but obviously I was very wrong. You might find it somewhat amusing, but if you'd rather get a feel for the game's atmosphere, better take a look at these artworks.
