The Ship originally started out about a couple of years ago, as a Half-Life MOD with a... quirky concept. Since then, the Scots from Outerlight managed not only to keep the project afloat, but also to get their hands on Valve's Source engine and sign on with Mindscape, hoping to release The Ship as a stand-alone PC game in September. The general idea behind the game remained pretty much the same throughout this time:

"Set on a luxury 1920's replica cruise ship built by Mr. X, this devilish game challenges you to kill or be killed. Once you're on board you're given the name of another passenger whom you must find and secretly murder. Watch out for security unless you want to do some time in jail and keep looking over your shoulder because somewhere out there is another hunter looking for you!"

The funny thing is that, putting aside this life and death game of hide and seek, each player will also be subdued to a Sims-style day-to-day needs system - including sleeping, eating, socialising, peeing and pooping (not necessarily in this order). And since the ship is also full of AI characters, not just human players... things may turn out quite interesting. If you're really curious about the game, you should be able to sign up for a beta testing soon on the official website, while the rest of us will wait patiently for E3 - where the Scots will be showing their game. Some screenshots are already available, but they don't reveal much.
