So far, Eragon's fantasy universe only existed in Christopher Paolini's best-selling novel, but by the end of 2006 it will also spread on the silver screen - thanks to 20th Century Fox's feature film, whose December 15th premiere will be preceded by the release of an Eragon game in November - as announced by Vivendi, for pretty much all current platforms. The PC, PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 versions are being developed by Stormfront Studios, also responsible for Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor (2001) and Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone (2004), among many other games.
"Based on the best-selling novel, this epic fantasy-adventure centers on a young farm boy named Eragon whose destiny is revealed with the help of a dragon. Eragon, now a Dragon Rider, is swept into a world of magic and power, discovering that he alone has the power to save - or destroy - an Empire."
The first showing of the Eragon game will take place next month at E3.
