Pirates of the Caribbean Online Drops Anchor At E3

Just briefly mentioned before last year's E3, the Pirates of the Caribbean Online MMORPG will finally drop anchor at E3 2006 next month - Disney Online announced today. The fans' patience will be rewarded with the first screenshots and even a playable version of the game, developed by Disney's very own VR Studio (Toontown Online). The license is thus far from being stranded on a desert island, even though the first Pirates of the Caribbean game and movie were released back in 2003. The next gaming chapter will be the multiplatform Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow (this Summer), followed by PotC Online on the PC (in 2007); while the movie that started this whole adventure will also get a sequel this Summer, titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest".

"In the game, players will interact with Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann and other characters made popular in the movie franchise, as they embark on exciting quests in search of treasure and notoriety. (...) Featuring hundreds of customization options, players create and customize their own pirate, form a crew, and set sail on the high seas. Along the way they learn skills and tactics from the notorious Jack Sparrow, helping them forge alliances, hunt for buried treasure, battle evil undead forces and face off against known enemies from the movie franchise."

More details about the PotC MMO, according to Disney's press release, are supposedly hidden on the official website - but I'll be cursed if I can find any pirate booty over there. Maybe in a week or two, or three...
