What started out as one of, if not the best horror MOD ever made, is steadily turning into a full-fledged horror shooter, based on Valve's Source engine. They Hunger: Lost Souls has just entered the Alpha stage a few days ago, which means that "all level development is finished and refined", as the devs from Black Widow Games put it. Contrary to the three "They Hunger" MODs released for Half-Life, Lost Souls will bring a whole new adventure in single-player, and hopefully an equally hillarious multiplayer component (nothing beats a shovel duel in crouch-mode!).
"In North-Eastern Europe during the early 1960's, strange anomalies culminate with dead corpses rising from their graves. As a tourist recovering from a tragic accident, you seek shelter in an ancient monastery overrun by bloodthirsty zombies, and become involved in an escalading cascade of calamities."
What's left now for the developers is mostly to integrate scripting, dialogues, additional models and animations, which is quite a lot of work of course, but we might just wet our pant(ie)s before the end of 2006. For now, here's a new set of screenshots.
