| For all of you who were still hoping that Ubisoft would become Lionhead's foster parent, all I can say is: bummer! The French publisher was apparently left behind when Microsoft and Lionhead went for a business chatter at this year's Game Developers Conference, and it's quite likely that this will result in an acquisition deal at some point in the (near) future. In fact, according to GamesIndustry's sources, Microsoft might actually announce the buyout within the next few days - although it won't necessarily put an end to the poblems that Molyneux' studio has been facing lately. After the recent staff cuts earlier this month, Lionhead may be facing another round of job losses, as a result of an acquisition.
What about the French? Well... they've had better days:
"Ubisoft are furious," one insider told [GamesIndustry] today at GDC, "they thought they had it in the bag."
