Esteemed MMO developer Turbine (Asheron's Call, Dungeons & Dragons Online) announced today that its upcoming middle-earthly MMORPG will be co-published and distributed by Midway, for a better coverage of the North American market. Obviously enough, The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar will allow players to plunge into a persistent online universe as depicted a long time ago in Tolkien's writings, and more recently in Peter Jackson's film trilogy or Vivendi's and EA's games. Even though the release of Lord of the Rings Online is currently set for 2006, the project's history goes back a long way, Sierra being the first to announce a Middle-earth MMORPG in 1998. If you'd like to know how things went ever since, you can read about it in Wikipedia's Development summary.

And speaking of Turbine, today we also added a new series of trailers in our download section, briefly showing three playable classes from the imminent Dungeons & Dragons Online: Paladin, Ranger and Sorcerer.
