Warhammer Online, Gods & Heroes Beta Registrations Open

Umm... let's pretend we didn't have any MAJOR server problems for the last week, and get straight back to work. So, we'll start with a couple of new announcements made by Electronic Arts and Perpetual Entertainment, heralding the opening of registrations for the beta testing of their upcoming MMORPGs - Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, and Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising respectively.

On the Warhammer front, EA Mythic is welcoming potential recruits at their beta-center to sign-up for "a chance to participate in the invite-only Closed Beta Test" of Warhammer Online: WAR. "Chance to participate"? "Invite-only"? "Closed"? Oh boy, you're going to need a lot of luck to get into this one. And not only that, but apparently you also have to be from North America to register. Europeans are advised to give it a try at www.war-europe.com. Or simply wait for the full game's launch in early 2008.

On to Gods & Heroes, this Roman mythology-based online game is also set to enter a closed beta, though this one is supposed to be its final testing phase. Again, fans are given the "chance to get access, play and provide feedback on the game", once they sign-up here.

In the final game, which should go live this summer, players take on the role of a son (or daughter) of an Olympian god. Featuring an innovative squad combat system and attack animations that give you control of every move, Gods & Heroes challenges players to overcome and conquer the enemies of Rome. Along the way, players will battle iconic enemies including the Gauls, Greeks, and Samnites, as well as the Cyclops, Minotaur, Hydra, Medusa, and other creatures from Roman mythology. Each player will command the powers of the gods and their own custom squad as they fight to save Rome.

I for one am waiting for Gods & Heroes: Sparta Falling.
