| Who would've thought that, in less than a year after the original F.E.A.R. sent shivers thorough our PC gaming spines, we'd already be talking about four more versions for Monolith's phobic shooter. That's right! Not only will there be a Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R., an Extraction Point add-on for the PC, and a free multiplayer version called COMBAT, but now CVG freaks us out with the "exclusive rumour" that Vivendi will also be releasing the game on Sony's next generation console, the PlayStation 3.
Having nothing but their anonymous investigative reporters' hearsay to show for, CVG claims that they can confirm the PS3 version of F.E.A.R., and that "there's even the possibility that it might make use of the PS3's funky tilting controller for some of the game's crunching melee moves". Slow-mo kicking and punching in mid air by shaking the gamepad? That doesn't sound too bad. If they can pull it off in a playable manner, that is.
The story goes on to speculate that F.E.A.R. for the PS3 might be ready in time for the console's launch, and that "hopefully it'll make good use of the PS3's online capabilities too, offering PS3 owners a chance to indulge in splendid multiplayer shooting". I'll hope to that!
But long before this romour clears up, don't forget that next week Vivendi will be putting up for download F.E.A.R. COMBAT as a free multiplayer game. The clock is ticking on www.joinfear.com.
