Age of Conan Signed By SCi/Eidos, Pushed Back To 2007
Funcom have recently found a partner in their quest to spread their brutal MMORPG all over the world - and the winner is... SCi Games / Eidos. The British publisher signed an agreement with Funcom that will see SCi publish the boxed version of Age of Conan, while Funcom retains digital distribution rights. The agreement gives SCi/Eidos distribution rights for North America, Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Funcom will operate servers and provide customer service for the game and collect and retain subscription revenues.
The only downside is that, as part of the agreement, the game's launch window has been bushed back, and it's now set for release between March and May 2007. Age of Conan is currently in the Beta phase of development, and both parties are apparently pleased with the status of the game.
Finally, the announcement had one more interesting revelation to make, stating that Funcom and SCi/Eidos will also co-operate to bring Age of Conan to the console market. No doubt, this means either Microsoft's Xbox 360, or Sony's PlayStation 3. Or both. But that is another story for another time.
