This is it, boys and girls! We've been waiting for it for the past eight years or so (back in 1997, 3D Realms said it would be out in '98), and now that it's finally here... I can't help but wonder, how long will it be before it fades away. Available in North American stores since yesterday, Prey will be out in Europe on July 14 for the PC and Xbox 360, but those of you with copious amounts of bandwidth can also download the game from Triton - a download service which is providing uncapped bandwidth for the launch of Prey.

"Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation and going nowhere. His life changes when an otherworldly crisis forces him to awaken spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and ultimately his planet."

Gosh, how thoughtful of him. Still, as much as I'd like to bash Human Head's shooter, most early reviews are showing a clearly positive attitude towards both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of Prey. Only GameSpot gave it a harsh 7.5, with most other websites setting the score around 8.0 or even 9.0.

The demo released last month was interesting enough, but some say the final version of Prey is actually a lot duller. I have yet to try it myself, so I wouldn't mind some extra oppinions, if any of you think it's worth the effort or not.

UPDATE: Nevermind about that oppinion. Not for a 5 hours long game, thank you. [13.07.2006, 08:23]
