The ever expanding German publisher 10tacle Studios has announced yet another project, this time returning to the racing genre that sparked the beginning of their ascension, after the release of GTR and GT Legends in 2005. The new game is supposed to be in the works for several hardware platforms and is targeted for a worldwide release towards the end of 2008. 10tacle estimates the development costs for the project at roughly 8 million Euros, financed with the help of a private investment by the initiator AAA Capital Holding from Grünwald.
"The expansion of the racing portfolio is an intrinsic part of our growth strategy. With this project, we not only make sure we are paid service fees by the client but we will also make sure our racing specialist teams are fully occupied during the next 24 months. Moreover, the repeated commitment by AAA Capital shows that return-oriented investors continue to be interested in investing in our company's promising game projects", explains Michele Pes, CEO of 10TACLE STUDIOS AG.
So what does all that PR mumbo jumbo actually mean? Not much really. I am however curious to know if Blimey! Games has anything to do with this project. The team from Blimey! has previously worked on GTR and GT Legends, before leaving SimBin, and are now doing "additional production" on GTR 2. Aside from this, they were also said to be working on a game codenamed "Falcon", for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. We'll see if we can get any response from them on this matter.
